The Terracotta Army
Farmers discovered this vast clay army near Xi’an, China in 1974, guarding Emperor Qin Shi Huang’s tomb and showcasing incredibly advanced craftsmanship. Over 8,000 life-sized soldiers stand in formation, each with unique facial features. They once held real weapons and were originally painted in bright colors. The site spans 14,000 square meters with multiple pits still under excavation. A massive general statue found in 2020 adds further evidence of the emperor’s obsession with immortality.
