The Miami Circle
A 38-foot stone ring discovered in Florida during a 1998 construction project hints at the sophisticated structures built by the ancient Tequesta people. The site features 24 precisely cut holes in limestone bedrock, possibly supporting wooden posts for a structure. Dating back 2,000 years, it represents the only prehistoric stone circle found in North America. Nearby artifacts including shark teeth and shells, suggest the site served ceremonial or trading purposes for this coastal civilization.
