Gobekli Tepe’s Stone Rings
Dating back to 9600 BC in Turkey, these T-shaped stone pillars predate agriculture and completely change our understanding of early civilization. The site contains animal carvings on pillars weighing up to 10 tons, arranged in circular enclosures. Hunter-gatherers built these structures long before farming began, suggesting complex social organization existed earlier than previously thought. The intentional burial of the site around 8000 BC adds to the mystery of why this important place was abandoned.
