The Nuremberg Celestial Battle (1561)
Citizens of Nuremberg woke up to what they described as a sky battle with strange cylindrical and spherical objects. A woodcut by Hans Glaser captured this bizarre event. The local newspaper called it a “dreadful apparition.” People saw beams of light and objects that seemed to crash, leaving smoke trails. The whole town talked about it for weeks. This stands as one of the most well-documented pre-modern UFO cases.
