Greeting Cards Soaked in Cocaine
Regular mail became a smuggling channel when seemingly innocent greeting cards arrived containing invisible contraband. Smugglers dissolved cocaine into a solution, applied it to paper cards, then dried them. Recipients later extracted the drug through a chemical process. The cards passed through postal inspections until a drug-sniffing dog alerted handlers to the unusual mail.
