15. Satsuma Rebellion (1877)
The Satsuma Rebellion, led by Saigō Takamori, was the last major uprising of samurai against the Imperial government (britannica.com). The rebellion began in January 1877 and lasted until September 1877, culminating in the Battle of Shiroyama on September 24, 1877. Facing overwhelming Imperial forces, Saigō and his samurai made a final stand, resulting in their defeat and marking the end of the samurai era.
