The Battle of Dan-no-ura, fought on April 25, 1185, in the Shimonoseki Strait, was the decisive naval confrontation of the Genpei War. The Minamoto clan, led by General Minamoto no Yoshitsune, faced the Taira clan, who were defending their stronghold.
