White evangelical voters have long been supportive of the Republican party (not as much for evangelical voters of other ethnicities). Throughout his campaign, he quoted a few Bible verses and gave some references. He was endorsed by influential people in the evangelical culture, particularly Jerry Falwell Junior, the son of the late Jerry Falwell, who galvanized evangelical voters in support of Ronald Reagan.
