16. Trump Registered as a Democrat in 2001
Following his falling-out with the populist Reform Party, he officially became a Democrat. He had long had progressive leanings on social issues, such as on gay marriage, and made sizeable campaign contributions to Democratic candidates. Nevertheless, in 2008, he endorsed the Republican presidential nominee John McCain.
