He Could Have Alerted a Group Nearby With a Fire but Chose Not To

Bus 142 was located along the Stampede Trail, which is a road and trail in the Denali Borough in Alaska that starts from the George Parks Highway. Though Chris left a note on the bus door, he did not do anything else to draw attention to his situation. The bus was not near any flight plans, but he could have lit a fire that would have been seen from the nearby town from Healy, or nearby hunting camps. Carine, his sister, contends that he wouldn’t have started a fire because he would never risk burning down a forest to save his life.
