NSA-CIA Partnership Through PRISM
The CIA gained direct access to data collected through the NSA’s PRISM program, which began in 2007. This program secretly extracted user information from major tech companies like Google, Apple, and Microsoft. Documents revealed by Snowden showed CIA analysts routinely reviewed communications of foreign targets often without specific warrants. This collaboration between agencies created a situation where boundaries between foreign and domestic surveillance became increasingly blurred and oversight mechanisms failed.
