11. FBI’s Final Assault Plan: April 19th
On the morning of April 19, 1993, the FBI initiated their final, decisive operation to end the prolonged siege. Armored vehicles equipped with battering rams punctured holes in the walls of the Mount Carmel compound, systematically deploying tear gas to force occupants outside. The FBI anticipated a swift surrender, but instead, chaos quickly unfolded. Strong winds dispersed and diluted the gas, and the Davidians retreated deeper inside, refusing to exit. Despite assurances of a peaceful resolution, confusion and panic escalated rapidly, setting the scene for a catastrophic end to the standoff, far from the FBI’s intended outcome.
