Wikipedia

Hiram Bingham is known for his travels to Machu Picchu and the Peruvian Andes. He was not only a traveler but also a politician and archaeologist. One of Bingham’s most well-known travels is all his work in attempting to locate the Vilcabamba (Vilcabamba), also known as the “lost city of the Incas.” This area would later be located away from where Bingham felt it was a few years after his death.
