Ancient Surgical Innovation

Indian surgeon Sushruta cataloged over 100 specialized medical instruments around 600 BCE. His surgical toolkit included precisely crafted scalpels, forceps, and speculums manufactured from bronze and iron. Medical practitioners sterilized these tools using heat treatments and chemical solutions. Their sophisticated understanding of hygiene principles rivaled much later medical developments and shaped surgical practices for centuries.
