27. Andrew and Abby Borden – Murdered By Their Daughter
“Lizzie Borden took an ax…” Everyone has heard the sick and twisted poem about the young woman who killed both of her parents with an ax in February of 1892. She was the main suspect in the murders, but for years there has been a debate about her actual guilt. Media outlets of the day sensationalized the tragic double homicide. During this time people believed that women were incapable of committing murder, but Lizzie faced trial for killing her parents anyway. The courts acquitted her, but that is not where the story ends.
