18. Zona Heaster Shue-The Greenbrier Ghost
In 1897, the body of a Zona Heaster was found in her home. The young woman’s mother insisted she had been murdered. Many unusual things happened following Zona’s death. Her mother knew her new son-in-law had something to do with it. Following her daughter’s burial, she prayed that Zona would show her what really happened to her. According to legend, Zona appeared to her mother and told her that her husband had broken her neck in a fit of anger. To show this, the spirit turned its head all the way around. The authorities did a new autopsy after Zona’s mother told them her story. Ironically, they discovered her broken neck and placed her husband on trial. Her mother’s testimony helped convict Zona’s husband of her daughter’s murder.
