12. 4th Marine Division
The 4th Marine Division, activated on August 16, 1943, played a pivotal role in the Pacific Theater during World War II. The division participated in four major amphibious assaults: Roi-Namur in the Kwajalein Atoll, Saipan, Tinian, and Iwo Jima.
