33. Flappers Followed on the Heels of Suffragettes
When suffragettes were fighting for women to gain the right to vote at the turn of the twentieth century, they were seen as forward, rebellious, and unladylike, much like flappers. They were brash and outspoken, characteristics that contrasted sharply with the traditional Victorian ideals of the era.
