4. Iroquois (Haudenosaunee)
The Iroquois Confederacy, or Haudenosaunee, is renowned for uniting five, then six, powerful nations. Their innovative Great Law of Peace influenced the development of the U.S. Constitution. The Iroquois’ matrilineal society and iconic longhouses set them apart, while their diplomatic skills ensured lasting unity. Today, the Haudenosaunee remain leaders in Native affairs, continuing to advocate for sovereignty, rights, and cultural preservation.
