Iraq’s oil wealth has been both a blessing and a curse, fueling decades of conflict, sanctions, and insurgency. The 2003 U.S.-led invasion was partly driven by control over Iraq’s vast oil reserves, leading to prolonged instability. Disputes over oil revenue sharing between the central government and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) have further exacerbated tensions.
