77. Cubans Begin Fleeing To the US in the 80s

The Cuban Revolution occurred in the 1950s. In April 1980, another mass wave of Cuban refugees to Florida began; over 125,000 Cubans made the perilous journey, often in overcrowded boats that were in danger of capsizing. Dozens of people died on the journey to find a better life for themselves and their families in America.
