22. Benjamin Franklin Rarely Lived With His Common-Law “Wife”
Benjamin Franklin met a woman by the name of Deborah Read when he was 17 years old. They got had a ceremony about five years later but never married. It was not long after their ceremony when Franklin started to travel to France. Soon, Franklin was in France so much that he lived there more than with his family in America. Near the end of her life, Deborah would send letters to her husband requesting him to come home because she was lonely. Franklin would visit but he never really moved back to live in America until near his death.
