Benjamin Franklin had to sail back to the United States of America from France in 1785 due to declining health. Upon his arrival, he would become the wealthiest man in America. Franklin lived out the rest of his life as one of the richest people in the United States. At the time of his death, in 1790, Benjamin Franklin was worth about 43 million dollars. However, some have valued his estate to be worth closer to $10 billion today.
