14. Social Stigma and Discrimination
Serfs were looked down upon by higher classes, facing prejudice and exclusion from religious, cultural, and social life. This marginalization reinforced their subordinate status within the feudal hierarchy. It was almost impossible for a serf to climb the social ladder and improve their position.
