19. Leadville, Colorado
During the silver boom, Leadville became one of America’s most violent mining towns. Rival mining factions clashed frequently, and deadly shootouts were all too common on its rowdy streets. The city’s saloons and gambling halls served as battlegrounds for feuds and power struggles. According to the Colorado Encyclopedia, Leadville’s lawless atmosphere set it apart as a notorious symbol of the Wild West’s darker side.
