13. The Panjandrum
Britain’s ‘Great Panjandrum’ was a prototype rocket-propelled explosive cart intended to breach beach defenses during D-Day. It rarely ran straight and often went out of control, causing more danger to its creators than any enemy. The device featured two large wheels connected by a central explosive-filled drum, propelled by numerous rockets. Despite extensive testing, the Panjandrum proved too erratic and was abandoned.
