1. Operation Animals: Diversion in the Balkans
In June 1943, the Allies initiated Operation Animals, a covert mission aimed at deceiving the Axis powers into believing that Greece was the target of an imminent invasion, thereby diverting German resources from Sicily. This operation involved coordinated sabotage activities across Greece, including the destruction of key infrastructure such as bridges and railways.
