Thousands of assassination-related documents were classified immediately after the event. The JFK Records Act of 1992 mandated their release within 25 years, setting a 2017 deadline. This deadline wasn’t fully met, as presidents cited ongoing intelligence concerns. While over 6 million pages became public over decades, many key files remained locked away. This continued secrecy fueled speculation about what information was being protected and why certain details couldn’t see daylight.
