14. Emperor Hirohito
Emperor Hirohito, who reigned from 1926 to 1989, remains a central figure in Japan’s history. His descendants continue to play significant roles in Japanese society. His son, Emperor Akihito, succeeded him and abdicated in 2019, becoming Emperor Emeritus. Emperor Akihito’s son, Emperor Naruhito, currently holds the throne.
