Taking the Pimple
Following the capture of Hill 145, Canadian troops faced their final major obstacle: a strongly fortified position known as “the Pimple”. This small yet strategically critical height provided German forces with a commanding view over the northern flank of Vimy Ridge. On April 12, under a barrage of artillery fire and through punishing weather, Canadian soldiers launched their assault. Fighting was fierce, as troops navigated treacherous slopes and intense enemy resistance. Through sheer determination and disciplined coordination, they gradually overwhelmed the German defenses. By day’s end, the Pimple was secured, marking the completion of Canada’s remarkable conquest of Vimy Ridge.
