In August 2008, two Brazilian nationals, Wellington Nazaré and Nilson Souza, attempted a robbery at the Banco Espírito Santo branch in Campolide, Lisbon. They took six hostages, including the bank manager and deputy manager. After several hours of negotiation, the Portuguese Special Operations Group intervened, resulting in Souza’s death and Nazaré’s serious injury. The hostages were unharmed. This incident was part of a series of violent crimes in the Greater Lisbon area during that period. (en.wikipedia.org)
