12. The 1911 Xinhai Revolution
The Xinhai Revolution, also known as the 1911 Revolution, was a nationalist democratic revolt that overthrew the Qing dynasty in 1912 and established the Republic of China. The revolution began with the Wuchang Uprising on October 10, 1911, and led to the abdication of the last emperor, Puyi, on February 12, 1912. This marked the end of over two millennia of imperial rule in China and the beginning of its republican era (rem.routledge.com).
