4. Fort Mifflin (Pennsylvania)
Fort Mifflin played a decisive role during the Revolutionary War by bravely holding out against British forces and delaying their capture of Philadelphia. Despite its defenders’ valiant stand, the fort later faded into obscurity, especially when compared to the iconic winter at Valley Forge.
