Many served as carpenters, blacksmiths, masons, and seamstresses—constructing homes, furniture, tools, and more, yet rarely receiving acknowledgment. Their expertise was essential to maintaining and expanding plantation infrastructure. Their craftsmanship shaped the very landscape, yet the credit and rewards went to their enslavers.
