Despite enduring civil wars and ongoing challenges, Lebanon has consistently rebuilt its cultural hub, Beirut, embodying the enduring spirit of renewal. Following the Lebanese Civil War (1975-1990), the Lebanese government established the Council for Development and Reconstruction (CDR) in 1977 to assess infrastructural needs and allocate aid for rebuilding the country. In 1994, the Lebanese Company for the Development and Reconstruction of Beirut Central District (Solidere) was founded to oversee the reconstruction of Beirut’s downtown area. Despite these efforts, challenges remain, including political instability and economic difficulties (ft.com).
