7. The Mystery of the ‘Space Music’
During the Apollo 10 mission in 1969, astronauts Eugene Cernan, John Young, and Thomas Stafford reported hearing an unexplained “whistling sound” while orbiting the far side of the Moon, beyond Earth’s radio reach. They described it as “outer-space type music.” Initially, the source was unknown, but later analysis attributed the sounds to radio interference between the lunar module and command module. This phenomenon highlighted the complexities of communication systems during lunar missions. For more details, refer to NASA’s account of the event: (nasa.gov)
