Rhyolite, Nevada, blossomed in the desert after gold was discovered in 1904. By 1907, grand hotels and electric lights signaled enduring prosperity, but the boom ended incredibly fast. Its haunting ruins, including a crumbling bank and bottle house, make Rhyolite a legendary ghost town. (nps.gov)
