Construction workers in London during 1912 held a problematic job that didn’t pay them enough money to put food on the table. They worked long hours and never received the benefits they felt they deserved – that was until one crew demolished a house near St. Paul’s Cathedral. The team found a large box filled with jewelry, stones, gold, and other items. 

They all stuffed their pockets and brought the items to a local pawn shop. However, instead of giving the construction crew the money they wanted, the pawn shop owner, George Lawrence, contacted the museum as he recognized the items are rare and valuable artifacts.
