12. The Louisiana Uprising of 1795 (Pointe Coupée Conspiracy)

Inspired by revolutionary ideals from Haiti, enslaved people in Pointe Coupée Parish plotted a large-scale revolt in 1795. They aimed to overthrow their oppressors and claim their freedom, but the conspiracy was uncovered before it could ignite. Dozens were executed or exiled, and the event triggered widespread anxiety among slaveholders about the “contagion” of rebellion.
