11. World War II (Against Romania, 1942)
On June 5, 1942, the United States declared war on Romania, following Romania’s declaration of war on the U.S. on December 12, 1941. As an Axis power, Romania’s involvement included providing military support to Germany, notably in the invasion of the Soviet Union. The U.S. military responded by targeting Romanian oil fields at Ploiești, aiming to disrupt Axis resources. For the official declaration document, refer to the Senate’s records: (senate.gov).
