10. A Lost Time Capsule from 1959
In 1960, they placed a time capsule in the cornerstone of a new high school building with the intent of opening it during a 2009 celebration commemorating the 50th anniversary of the district’s 1959 consolidation. When the keeper of the district’s history started planning the 50th-anniversary event and asked where the capsule was, no one knew. The cornerstone holding the time capsule had been removed during a 2004 construction project and was thought to have been thrown away in the debris.
That summer, as construction continued, the cornerstone and capsule were found during the demolition of a storage building.
