9. The Korean War Division (1950-1953)
After World War II, Korea was divided along the 38th parallel, with the U.S. occupying the south and the Soviet Union the north. This division led to the establishment of two separate governments: the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea in the north and the Republic of Korea in the south. Tensions escalated into the Korean War when North Korean forces crossed the 38th parallel into South Korea on June 25, 1950.
