In 1903, the small town of Van Meter, Iowa, was reportedly terrorized by a mysterious winged creature. Descriptions depict it as a half-human, half-animal entity with large bat-like wings and a horn emitting a blinding light from its head. Residents, including a local doctor and banker, claimed to have seen the creature, which was said to have a foul odor and moved at incredible speeds.
