7. Limited Firepower in Early Models
Early Supermarine Spitfire models were equipped with eight .303 Browning machine guns, which proved insufficient against heavily armored enemy aircraft. As a result, later variants were upgraded with more powerful armament, such as 20mm Hispano-Suiza cannons.
