12. Suppression of Indigenous Industries and Crafts
The East India Company’s policies systematically undermined India’s indigenous industries, particularly the textile sector. By imposing high tariffs on Indian goods entering Britain and flooding the Indian market with cheap, machine-made British textiles, the Company rendered local products uncompetitive.
