6. Paul and Julia Child
Julia Child revolutionized American cooking with help from her husband, Paul. His encouragement and behind-the-scenes support empowered her influence, from bestsellers to TV, reshaping culinary culture. Paul, a retired diplomat and artist, was instrumental in Julia’s success. He designed their kitchen, assisted with her television show, and even served as her official photographer. Julia credited Paul with being “the man who is always there: porter, dishwasher, official photographer, mushroom dicer and onion chopper, editor, fish illustrator, manager, taster, idea man, resident poet, and husband” (americanhistory.si.edu).
