Through music and activism, John Lennon and Yoko Ono galvanized the peace movement of the 1970s. Their ‘Bed-Ins’ and provocative art projects gave voice to antiwar sentiment globally. In 1969, they held two “Bed-Ins for Peace” in Amsterdam and Montreal, inviting the media into their hotel rooms to discuss peace and protest the Vietnam War. During the Montreal event, they recorded the anti-war anthem “Give Peace a Chance,” which became a rallying cry for peace activists worldwide.
