6. Diego de Almagro
Diego de Almagro, born in 1475 in Castile, Spain, was a pivotal figure in the Spanish conquest of the Inca Empire. Initially collaborating with Francisco Pizarro, Almagro played a significant role in the conquest of Peru. However, tensions arose over territorial control, particularly concerning the city of Cuzco. In 1535, Almagro led an expedition into Chile, seeking new riches. Upon his return to Peru, he seized Cuzco, leading to a civil war with Pizarro’s forces.
