7. World War II (1941-1945)
World War II defined the ‘Greatest Generation.’ Following the attack on Pearl Harbor, the U.S. led Allied forces to victory in Europe and the Pacific. Landmark events include D-Day and Hiroshima. The war ended with the U.S. as a superpower and ushered in the Atomic Age. (National WW2 Museum).
