2. The Choctaw Code Talkers
In 1918, a group of Choctaw soldiers made history by transmitting vital tactical messages in their native language. Their quick thinking and unique linguistic skills left German eavesdroppers utterly perplexed, turning the tide in several crucial battles. The Choctaw code talkers’ innovation directly inspired later efforts, including the celebrated Navajo code talkers of World War II.
